seqWell Appoints New Commercial Team Led by Chief Commercial Officer Steve Smith

Senior Field Applications Scientist, Renata Santos, demonstrates the simplified workflow of the plexWell library prep kit.

Appointments will drive commercialization and development of proprietary next-generation sequencing library prep technologies.

Beverly, MA, US, 5 October 2021: seqWell, a global provider of next-generation sequencing (NGS) library technologies based on its proprietary plexWell™ multiplexing platform, today announced five appointments to its commercial team. Led by Steve Smith, who joins as Chief Commercial Officer, the team will be responsible for driving awareness, adoption and development of the plexWell platform and product pipeline, to provide scientists with a simplified NGS workflow. Joining Steve are Curtis Knox, Senior Product Manager; Renata Santos, Senior Field Applications Scientist; Kellie Faulkner, Marketing Manager; and Laura Clark, Marketing Specialist.

seqWell’s plexWell platform is an NGS library preparation technology that enables simple, scalable multiplexing of hundreds to thousands of samples without the need for time- and cost-consuming sample preparation or library normalization steps. The simplified three-hour workflow enables enhanced overall sequencing performance with uniform depth of coverage across all samples while maximizing sequencing efficiency. In addition to plexWell, seqWell is developing several products to support a wide range of multiplexed sequencing applications.

Steve Smith joins as Chief Commercial Officer, with over 25 years’ experience in bringing disruptive technologies to market in life science business and commercial leadership roles. Steve was most recently Vice President at Abcam, where he coordinated the expansion of the company’s cell engineering market. Prior to this he led gene synthesis and synthetic biology businesses at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Curtis Knox, Senior Product Manager, has over 15 years’ experience in product management and product development in genomics and NGS, with marketing leadership roles at Promega, Lucigen, and Hologic.

Renata Santos joins as Senior Field Applications Scientist from a technical support role at Omixon, where she drew on a background in NGS and experience working in both research and clinical diagnostic laboratories to provide customers with strong technical knowledge and support.

Kellie Faulkner, Marketing Manager, has an extensive track record in developing and executing marketing strategies and campaigns on a global scale, working with clients from a breadth of technical sectors, including academia, information technology, and pharmaceutical industries.

Laura Clark joins as Marketing Specialist from Covaris, a company offering a novel pre-analytical sample preparation platform for NGS and other applications. Laura is an experienced events manager in the life sciences industry and specializes in conference and meeting coordination, customer outreach, and project management.
