Our Founders’ Story

It’s in seqWell’s “DNA” to work smart, innovate, and recognize ways to improve the status quo. That’s because Joe and Jack are precisely the type of customers they set out to reach when they incorporated seqWell in February 2014. The pair first met a month prior, when Joe pitched his idea for seqWell to an incubator committee that Jack sat on.

They connected over a shared vision to revolutionize NGS library prep—and then they got to work. seqWell began as a services contractor, using transposase-based reagents to solve complex sequencing challenges for academic and institutional clients.

Then Joe and Jack began developing their own reagents to further unlock the full potential of today’s sequencing technologies. They submitted their first patent in 2015 and, two years later, officially launched their proprietary plexWell technology, positioning seqWell to be a trailblazer in NGS library prep methods.
